Are you following your dream?

I'm certainly not a motivational speaker, but once in a while it's helpful to be reminded and encouraged to follow your dreams. So now is one of those moments. Are you really doing what you want to do in life? Maybe there is room for change? Would that make you happier?

Maybe this email can offer you inspiration. It sounds like such a cliche, but I've constantly followed the motto: “follow your dreams”. I found that staying true to yourself results in feeling happier. And in the process I've been slowly developing my career as a composer and music producer.

As an example, one of my goals was to make soundtracks for film and theatre. So why not go to the biggest and most successful theatre company in the country to start with? That's the Auckland Theatre Company. And surprise surprise, it wasn't that hard to get a chance to write music for the play The Gift back in 2012.

The play was a great introduction into the world of theatre for me. Since then I've been writing music for a range of fabulous plays, like The Glass Menagerie. That particular soundtrack has taken on a life of its own since then. It has been used numerous times for productions of the play in the USA. It's rich in beautiful melodies and ambient soundscapes. It takes you right back to St. Louis in the 1930’s, where the play is set.

Why not check it out? You can stream it on all major platforms right here. The music is also a reminder to follow your own path. That concept is such a strong part of the story of the play.

Enjoy,
Adrian

Here's a little behind-the-scenes look at the theatre set of the play Filthy Business during production week. That's the week when the team installs the stage, sound and light systems.
